Oh, how glad I am that I read this thread; I wasn't feeling anywhere near as bad as I thought I was... *heads off to flagellate myself for having used microwave rice, pre-chopped veg, ordinary soap, and, god forbid, a tumble dryer...* (oops, sorry, got carried away, the tumble dryer hasn't entered the discussion yet..)

I don't see any reason to be rude. Or to make assumptions. I was merely trying to inject some, obviously lacking, humour, into a thread that seems to have no direction!

I seem to remember a few scary stats, like 8% of British kids don't know how to eat an orange, and about a third of British mums think that fruit flavoured sweets count as one of their child's 5-a-day.

It's got to the point where people have a Chris Moyles attitude towards food. That is, "I love junk food, why bother with that fancy crap when I can have chips and a microwave burger?". They're actually proud of the ignorance. "Sushi? Ugh. Why would I eat raw fish"
You, obviously, don't listen to Chris Moyles.

Me too guilty as charged Have tried to cook loose rice but always ends up too much rice or too much water or the opposite. Mainly use chopped onions when I run out of garden onions and because my eyes stream badly and I'm just not a good chopper
