Bug I.D Please

I've come across this bug/larvae several times in the last few days in my garden, there on my Broccoli & sprouts.
Question...

...are they goodies or baddies?
...can I leave them alone or have I to squidge them?

Looks like a chrysalis (resting stage) of a caterpillar. Could be cabbage white - have you had much caterpillar damage?

Yup, it's only tiny (1cm) and it moves round a bit like a leach.

Bit small for a cabbage white crysallis, and not really caterpillar 'shape'.
NOT a ladybird larva (even a Harlequin).
Are there holes in nearby leaves? If not, I'd leave it alone, if you've got holes, get rid of it.....

Mi leaves are peppered with holes H.B. I've had a mega problem with cabbage whites this year. I've also had lots of Angel wing moth caterpillars...now they do eat everything in sight, grrrrrr. I'm still a bit reluctance to squidge them until I can properly I.D them. I don't think there causing the holes to be honest. So for now they've been reprieved
