Sometimes I have to go to meetings with a colleague in his office. He sits on a tall chair with the rest of us squashed onto the comfy chairs round the coffee table - and then he holds forth. Usually on the same theme each time - this is his introductory salvo. Then he monopolises the conversation - and if you dare chip in he raises his hand - palm outwards - to block you off.
Needless to say I avoid the meetings if at all possible.
How can that be a meeting?
Sadly, yes, Pisk, I probably would talk over you. My Dad does it all the time, and I'm afraid, as a way of actually getting to finish a sentence, I, too, developed the habit. I often don't realize I'm doing it, and, luckily, Mr. G. is gradually curing me! LOL (You should see my shins!)

If someone phones me, and doesn't want to hear anything I've got to say, I would simply ring off, or put the phone don and walk away. If they are still going on when you get back, you repeat.....
