Not had ours on yet, usually the electric blanket goes on before the heating.

We had the cavity wall insulation thingy done and it makes one hell of a difference.

I'm with Nicos - turn it on! What is the point of shivering? It only makes you crabbit!
Ours is a concrete bungalow - sounds horrible, but is actually lovely apart from condensation probs. So heating goes on here earlier than we would like. Conservatory leads off the living room and is our primary heat source in the summer - winter too if it's sunny - but it doesn't reach the bedrooms, so the radiators here can be on all year if we don't get much sun.

Thats always my problem Fi - at least now my parents have had a word with him (just before the babies were born) he has now realised the sense in having it on low all day when its really cold.

I use the warmth more just to get all the washing dry and Mr D used to spend soooo much time every morning and evening squeejying the condensation off the windows but with it on all day it rarely got the chance to build up. I was thankfull in the end that we didnt go down the real nappy route as I dont think I would have been able to keep up with getting everything dry. I hate washing thats not dryed quick enough - smells orrible!

I am resisting getting it turned on though - mind you Zaz the date I had in mind was the clock change day - wonder who will relent first!

Mine went on last night - I make no apology for needing to keep warm, but I do try to be environmentally friendly in other ways.

Mine went on last night ... and promptly broke down about two hours later. We currently have no hot water & no heating - had to go round to the neighbours for a shower earlier! Luckily we get on very well with them and have the heating engineers coming out tomorrow.

Ours went on today because we got up to quite a good frost covering this morning and it was freezing in the house, plus my little one has come home from nursery with the cold

Feeling sheepish now 'cos I have just turned it on. My toes and fingers were going numb and I was beginning to shiver- even with woolly socks and a fleece on. May turn it off again when the house is a comfy temperature though!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I want to hold out as long as possible but I too have a problem getting laundry dry in these temperatures. I have washing backed-up in the machine now wating for a slot. I'm not giving in yet though. Got me extra long scarf on.
