Have You Ever Had An Endoscopy?

I've got to have a camera down my throat to try and find the source of my health problems.

Have you ever had one? If so, how was it? I'm sure it is not pleasant, but......

Did you have the throat spray or the sedative?

No, sorry, had one up the arris a few weeks ago, not nice but just about bearable. Have you tried 'Googling' for info? Hope it all goes well for you.

My dad had one a few years ago - no sedative and he says it was not pleasant but not unbearable.

The quacks think I have a hiatus hernia. So, I know that the 10 minutes of having the test will be worth it if I can get rid of my problems.

I had the same, a big male nurse came and sat on me to make sure I didn't move, he was needed.

Have the throat spray it help a little bit.

Never had one myself, but my mother had one about 2 months ago and got the sedative.

I think she was more worried about choking on it than anything else...

I had it a few years ago.. i had the spray seditive on my throat and the next thing i knew they were offering me tea and toast. Far easier than the camera up the other end.

I've had extensive surgery on my mouth and throat, including tubes down my throat: no spray or anything was even offered, I was just told to relax and swallow.
It's difficult, but if you can "still" your mind, really calm down, you can do it...if you don't relax it'll be worse and take longer.

Promise yourself a treat when you're all finished.

That is the last I remember, so either she poleaxed me or used a blow dart - either way, the sodding ulcer that I had gone in for them to find had b**gered orf and all that was left was some scaring.

Try not to panic, this was a long time ago - they don't use double-thickness petrol pipes now!

Now I am quite sure all that has been said has been of great comfort to you NOT Cosmo......I have had a uninary one - no problem. My OH has recently had 2 throat ones and he was pretty wary of it. However, his comment after was absolutley no problem. It didn't even give him a sore throat. Lay back and enjoy a bit of pampering lol

I've had both ends too. The lower end was no problem - the throat one was better once I realised I had to open my throat and swallow! Not a pleasant experience but not paintful, just uncomfy and it make me feel I wanted to throw up. Still, if it finds your problem it will be well worth it. 'Relax' is the best advice, easier said than done!

Look how many of us have had it done and we're all still here to tell the tale.

relax relax & relax (easier said than done) & you can ask for throat spay which makes it a little more bearable, as with these things its the thought of it which makes it worse
