I was in a similar situation as the young girl you mention, ( I was a tad bit younger ) but my 'parents' didnt stand by me and consiquently I ended up being coerced into a marriage with an evil and controlling b***ard. I would not wish that on anyone.

However I would not give my daughter back for anything and I have never regetted having her.

I am glad that her parents look after her, and even though she might be on benefits now, doesnt mean she wont achieve or have a good life....how can you tell what will happen to her or judge her at 18??

Speaking as a grandad, who's daughter provided him his first 2 grandchildren before she was 19, I can understand your post exactly Martha.
My daughter is intelligent, did very well in skool, had Saturday jobs from when she was old enough and was an all round "nice" person.
In all honesty I wanted her to go to uni, and to do something with her life as I suppose a lot of parents do.
When she announced she was pregnant the first time round, I was disappointed initially internally, but as she was so happy I was happy for her externally.
Since that time, I have watched my young daughter grow into a woman and a mum to 2 wonderfully well rounded individuals, due in no small part to her being a quite fantastic parent. The younger of the 2 has just started full time skool, and my daughter is now looking for work, not easy having been out for so long, but is desperate to move into teaching somehow as she is just so at ease with children.
The initial disappointment I felt has long long since disappeared and has been replaced with an awesome sense of pride at her achievements, and there is no reason why your friends daughter shouldnt grow up to be a similar person.

Life's disappointments are so much harder to take if you don't know any swear words.
