We are planning a dinner and a show type thing next year for m'mother's 60th.

Us kids are all planning to chip in and those of us that can are going to buy our own tickets and go with her

For instance I found a same day return ticket for 2 adults for £138 on the 1st Dec 2010. Depends on yer budget hun. XX

All I can say now is that for my 70th. We booked a couple of rinks at the local bowling alley and all went for a supper at pizza hut. Does that appeal?

I very much enjoyed my spa day but doubt she wants to be doing that.

Thanks Folks, some lovely ideas, I don't feel quite so useless now! Loooove the Eurostar idea best! Whatever we do will have to wait until I'm more mobile; although I'm allowed to 'try' driving again this coming week. My Sister is coming home next weekend for a couple of weeks, so we'll be able to get our heads together then.

Fi, you did make me laugh, Rebel? Moi? and yes, my Sister and I often wonder if we're really adopted! Like they say, you can't choose your family! LOL

Bren, you're right with your 'negative' post, and a million miles away with the other! We often try to imagine Mother in a 'fast food' establishment. Think Hyacinth Bucket in attitude!

Well, if anyone's interested, this is what we did.

My Sister and her partner came over from Spain, as did my Uncle (Mum's Brother), and my Cousin and my Nephew came too. So it was nice to get the whole family together for a change.

Us 'Kids' (ha ha) cooked a fab three course dinner; Deep-fried Camembert, followed by a hooooge (£60) Rib of Beef, and more Veg than was reasonable. Then a choice of pretty little individual cakes (made by a Lady in the next village) or Whisky-misu! Made by my own fair hands, and so-named as I didn't have any Tia Maria/Kaluha, so used Whisky instead. Everyone chose the latter, and said it was delicious. I thought it was too sweet, but yummy anyway. We were all too stuffed to even contemplate Cheese and Biccies!

We also bought her some posh Bath Bombs, and a hooooge Bouquet of flowers.

A good time was had by all.

We're now all trying to avoid starting the clearing up!
