Willow Sculptures

Here's a pic of a small part of the willow sculpture that my class have been constructing this week - totally beautiful experience. Can't wait for it to come into leaf.

The local scallywags/lads/chavs/ne'er-do-wells who spend most nights on our school roof turned up on Thurs eve about 6pm as I was going home. We managed to rope them in and get them working with us for half an hour. They asured us that no one would trash the willow sculpture!

Good fun. We also got a pic of them all sat in it!

That sounds great, half the problem with kids is that they have nowhere to 'be'. Maybe this will provide them with a place of their own??? (or will they get chased off? )

It's always the problem on Primary School sites that they aren't technically public spaces once school is over. There is a park right next door but I agree that teens will prefer our willow hideouts.

Willow Sculpture Update

Lots of you have asked to be kept in touch with the willow sculpture we are making at school.

It is progressing really well.

Each stem (8ft) is costing us 10p! In other words we can make a half dome seating area (arbour) for about £5!!!!!!! As a Yorkshireman I find this very appealing.
