Is it just me or is the Vine slow today?

    Well i am with talk talk and for nearly a month it was taking up to 10 minutes to load a page or 10 minutes to log on and then the other monday morning walla it all came back .
    I use Google Chrome and it was the same on IE did not change any settings it just came back on its own so just hang on it will mend some time....jacob

      Do a speedtest - which will test your upload and download speeds in real time - and check these speeds against those that you are paying for. It might be that your ISP has issues, or a problem with your own setup at home. Or it could be your ISP charging you for 'unlimited' internet when you only have a 20MB line down you road (BT do this in Norwich, when really, it is pointless offering anything over 20MB as the line will not support it)

      Use this next website to find out what other ISP are available locally and get yourself a better one! This won't apply, if like me, you have a crap line running down your road and no other alternatives but to wait for an improvment on the line. You might even save some money. Also shop around and look at general ISP reviews - look for ones with good customer care records and facilities if you are not confident on the internet!

        That was me, it took ages to get on the vine with my PC running win2000 but i had no problem using Mr in Pots vista PC. So in the end i treated myself to a new shiny win 7 PC not just because of my vine problem it was just time to upgrade.

              I reported problems a couple of months ago. I am with talktalk and it is still impossibly slow with IE. However, I can get normal access with firefox, but it does not work for everyone. Tattieman had no luck changing browser.
              After a Google search I found this.
              "Talktalk's view is that this is our network and we are looking out from our network to URLs and websites accessed, scanning them all to see if they contain viruses and malware," said the spokesman. "As requests move through the network, the anti-malware system filters and records the website URLs to which our network has been asked to connect. "The system scans website URLs for malware and other viruses and then places each website URL in a white list (if the scan is clean – this is retained for up to 24 hours and then automatically deleted) or a black list (if the scan shows viruses, malware or other irregularities – this is retained for up to 7 days and then automatically deleted)," he said.

              It could be that their systems are taking so long to scan the very large sites such as this one, and that is delaying access, or maybe they are finding malware and the site is blacklisted. Strangely, I do not have any delays when accessing other forums using IE.

                I'm still having problems. Talktalk is my ISP and I am happy with their general service. I think their message as posted by realfood is total gobbledegook. I'm using Google Chrome at the moment, but only for the Vine - everything else is fine on IE. Anyone else got any ideas? It's a real shame cos I love the Vine but it takes so long to find anything and post that it's putting me off. Maybe our Admins could have a go at Talktalk if they are the problem.

                  What would they say?

                  The Admins have spent ages trying all the systems and the Mods have spent ages deleting and breaking down 99% of the 1000+ posts [and upsetting other members and getting it in the neck] to try and slim down the stuff going through the system to enable Talk Talk people to access the Vine - I can't see what else can be done.

                  Admin aren't customers of Talk Talk - if their customers were complaining directly then they might do something.....but Admin are powerless to do anything about it.

                  It's been an ongoing problem for so long and we've looked at so many things and each one leads directly to it being Talk Talk's system that's the problem. Perhaps they don't like gardening?

                    Sorry Zazen, I wasn't having a go at the mods or the admin - just trying to find a way of putting pressure on Talktalk or whoever the problem is.

                          It's not just the Vine either - my friend is on Talktalk and is suddenly having problems accessing her online banking with a certain bank. It just hangs there not loading! The same bank loads as fast as you like from her mobile phone and my Orange connection at home.

                          Basically, they won't do anything unless people threaten to vote with their to feet

                          Thank heavens we neved went over to them - we considered it last year.

                            I'm with you on that one Littlemouse! I think most folk must think I've given up the Vine, but it is just sooooo slow that I can't bear it, and I'm having withdrawal symptoms. This is a rare thing for me, to stick with it long enough to post!

                              Are you using IE ? If so try using Fire fox.

                                yep as liza said ,if you use ie with talk talk, try another browser, i use firefox and now have no probs.
