    Blummin rain!

Was intending to get down to the plot this weekend to get my tatties bed sorted out, but with all this rain everything is just saturated!

    When's it gonna be dry?

Global warming? Global watering more like!

The point about Global Warming is that the world will get wetter, not dryer.

So why all the brouhaha about planting for droughts and water rationing then??

Know how you feel though HW. We are decorating at the mo so entertaining Miss EB yesterday was a bit of a joke, although she has done really well considering. Couldn't believe the rain yesterday, today is loads better and I'm itching to get to the lottie but must get the painting done to take clients in.

No fair!! But the choice is do and get going with the business or don't do and face an indefinite time of penal servitude in the NHS.

That does of course depend where in the World you are johnty. Try telling the people in parts of Africa that it's getting wetter, or the areas in Australia and California that are seeing record droughts and subsequent bush-fires...

Generally speaking you are of course right in that sea levels will rise, and subsequently the World will be a "wetter" place.

My comment was merely a flippant quip.

Anyhoo, back onto the subject of lost weekends...

I'm away this weekend, and next weekend and what's the chances that it's perfect allotment weather whilst I'm sunning myself at Centre Parcs and then Northern Ireland - both known for their tropical weather!

It must be very frustrating for you, not being able to get to your plot, hope it cheers/dries up soon for you.

I decided if I couldn't beat it I'd join it, put a hat on, a waterproof and out I went, but I was only putting plants in the garden. Ideal conditions, didn't have to water them in

I was tempted, but all I have to do is take a few steps and I'm 8ft tall with all the soil sticking to my boots. Plus forks/spades get a tad heavy.

I woke up this morning, pulled the cutains back to the garden and paddock being flooded - again

It had just started to dry out and be workable, but we're back to square one again.

We've been away for just over a week and have come back to an immense amount of water just lying in the fields and its almost impossible to walk down to the polytunnel without churning up the grass. Yet we were down in Essex and they didn't have a drop of rain. It must have been really bad at some point here as part of the ceiling over one of our windows came down while we were away. Spiffing!

I'm just desperate to get some digging done too, but just no point at the moment.

Same here. Mr OWG thinks we should turn our paddock and veg beds into a rice field...

Home-grown Over Wyre rice... has a nice ring to it, doesn't it!!

OOOh Jennie, not sure where in Essex you were but I'm here & it's been peeing down non-stop virtually for 4 days. Has stopped now that my whole garden/ greenhouse is ruined though I live right on the edge of the forest here and even that won't soak up any more, there are little rivers running down to the roads and all the drains are blocked as well. At the moment, my front garden is under 4 inches of water

Jan we were only at Grays and Basildon, but didn't see a drop of rain, but we did come back on Saturday. I realised in your other post that it has obvioulsy been worse since we left. We have obviously missed it all. It was very windy though .... reminded us of home!

Wish I was in that part of Essex then! Where I am (SE Essex) it's rained nearly every day for the last 3 weeks!!! I'm glad I decided to go for raised beds on my lottie, they're draining lovely (apart from the newest one where the ground was already soaked when we made it so could only turn over large slabs of clay). The rest of it, the paths & the section waiting for beds to be constructed, is all under water!
