When I've seen packet pasta, it says 'made from Durum wheat' (or something similar) That is the 'hard' (or 'strong') type, so probably good for bread.
Bread rises because of the yeast, the quality of the flour just determines how well it will trap the gas that the yeast produces.

OK so someone else said it too!

Nine years ago my mam and dad bought the Panasonic that was supposedly the best breadmaker on the market.

My mam uses it every couple of days (sometimes more often!), has done for nine years, and it's STILL going strong. I know they were humming and hawing about paying so much at the time, but looks like it was a worthwhile investment for them

Now that's what you call a recommendation. Glad to hear it

Aye, but they never reminded me it was that old until I'd gone and ordered the Kenwood one "Which" recommended! Ah well, it's all paid (very nearly) by nectar points so I don't suppose it's the end of the world if it doesn't make me a cup of tea too

So far have made 1 spelt loaf (was good) 2 "sandwich" loaves - 1 white and 1 with 50/50 wholemeal (was like brown bread and no complaints from anyone, except the size of the loaves is small ish) and 1 brioche....very nice, light and fluffy!
