What do you feed your dog

Used to feed ours on James Wellbeloved too, but towards the end it was Chappie - bought loose from our local petshop, worked out cheaper than buying the 20kg sacks!

Edit: Chappie the dried dog food, not the tinned stuff.

Bones and raw meat direct from the abbatoir, whole raw carrots from our local feed merchant (sold for horses) which they chew up like bones. Rice and veg. i.e cabbage, spinach, brussls sprouts. Brewers yeast tablets, powdered garlic and cod-liver -oil capsules and the odd egg. Plus any left-overs. I also keep bags of the cheapest kibble and they have a bit of this as a filler.
My dogs are all healthy, shiny-coated and full of life.

Our Border Collie x is now fed with Aldi's tinned meat and dry mix (she was on totally dry food, but as she has got older, we were advised by the vet to do a mix).
She also sometimes gets chicken/ham and rice, and left overs! lol She's a doggy rubbish bin!

We've recently discovered that our GSD has an allergy to wheat and probably corn as well so we've been feeding her on James Wellbeloved for about 2 months and her skin has really cleared up and she's not scratching and nibbling nearly so much (we originally thought this was an OCD thing from being in the cat and dog home).

It's really expensive at £7.00 for 2 kilos although I've recently bought a load at 2 for 1 from Pets at Home. Costco seem to do an allergy free one for £25 for about 18 kilos so I might try that when we've used up the current stock of JW.

i feed very similar to polly fouracre; i buy wagg chicken and rice. i think it's 3 kilo for 2.20. it is the only dry food that doesn't upset his tummy, bar bakers, which is twice the price. i supplement with green cooked veg. and carrots and a potato, or rice and pasta, with the bits of whatever meat or chicken we are eating. i don't but tinned meat at all- its all the rubbish- feet and beaks, feathers, etc. ( that's what is termed protien on the label!) i would rather know what he is eating. i also add oil , and i too feed raw carrots as treats- i dont buy special dog treats at all, although he does love ginger-nut bisquits, so i give him bits of mine. my remedies for occasional use are garlic capsules, honey, and live yoghurt.

The big bags of JW are a lot less expensive per meal, but we used to get it cheap, our local dogfood market stall got the 'damaged bags' direct from the factory at about half the going rate. Later on (when he heard there was a policy change so amaged bags were going to be opened and the contents rebagged) he got a 'copy' made up and we still buy that, £21 for a big sack, which lasted our 2 (before I lost Gemma) about 3 weeks.
A standard plastic dustbin will (just about) hold 2 bags.....

I feed my Shih Tzu, she's only small a mix of allsorts really. She likes Aldi dog food in small trays with gravy and also rice and pasta, bits of chickens and veg. Wagg complete dog food. She also likes a Sunday lunch. She is spoilt but healthy. Also make my own shampoo for her also as she needs lots of grooming as her coat is long Good thread!

I remember my grandad feeding the gun dogs (Springers) only 6 out of 7 days, not sure why and he`s not around to ask. Anyone else heard of this ?

I'm pretty sure the wolves at Colchester zoo only get fed 6 out of 7 days?I guess it mimics the days that they might not manage to find prey?

I had neighbours who fed their dogs six days of the week. They said in the wild they would naturally fast when they couldn't catch anything. However, on the seventh day, they did give them milk and beaten egg!
