Don't let facts stop your arguments but of course you are just wrong.

    I quote:
"UK unemployment rose to 2.261 million in the three months to April (2007), the highest since November 1996 (when the Conservatives were in power), the Office for National Statistics said.

The jobless rate rose to 7.2%, the highest since July 1997.

The number of people claiming unemployment benefit rose by 39,000 in May, less than the 60,000 which had been forecast by analysts.

Young people have been hard-hit by the recession, with the unemployment rate for 18-24 year olds now at 16.6%.

The claimant count rate rose to 4.8%, the highest since November 1997. "

BBC NEWS | Business | UK jobless total at 12-year high

If that is "staying down", then I live in a bowl and swallow water and blow bubbles...

I think you'll find that the government that originally gave women the vote was the coalition government of 1916-22, admittedly under the Prime Ministership of David Lloyd George. But it entitled so few women to vote. They were still second class citizens.

My mother was 21 in 1928, and would have become entitled to vote for the first time. It seems very little now, but it was precious. She could have her vote.

So much is taken for granted these days.

Why unfortunately? They are local dialect greetings, and are in no way offensive.

On the whole I agree with you there......but a lot does depend on who says it to you and how it's said.

                          Back to the debate....................

                          • To be honest, I think this thread is now dead.

Lets close it and all get on with life.
