Welcome to the vine, Chiana and congratulations on the new aquisition. It does seem daunting when you look at the see of weeds & everyone else has perfect plots but your's will get there in the end the secret is little and often like....er... um ...Alchohol !!
I'm sure you'll enjoy it and the first produce will taste so much better.

Just want to say hi, thought it was only right after reading your posts this past week.
I'm new to this whole thing, after getting my allotment on an impulse last month!
Where is your Plot is it the nice ones in Cheam Village?
My phone has more Processing power than the Computers NASA used to fake the Moon Landings
Wow, thanks for the intro's everyone.
I'm trying really hard not to try and run before I can walk, but that bug's making me feverish, lol. I'll have to use all this energy on my plot.

No, I'm on Green Wrythe Lane. I didn't look at the other sites, as this one's only a 5 minute walk away. I figured the closer to my cooking pot the better!
Like your ideas around planting things that your child will like - their delight will re-energise you as well. Kids love squashes and there are some really weird ones. I'm trying purple and white ones.
My plot is new to me as well so it's a very exciting time.
Purple and White? Is that one squash? Sounds fantastic, hope they taste great. I've got Butternut and Pink Banana (makes a great curry) at the moment, but I'm sure that'll grow soon. Such a versatile fruit, we love them.
The White one is called Snowman - I will look at my seed packet for the purple variety.

Welcome Chiana, look forward to talking to you. Just remember to take it easy and relax. I seem to be saying this a lot lately, but : you ARE here to enjoy yourself. Have fun.
The purple pumpkin is called Crown Prince. I should point out that the outside is purple and the flesh the usual orange.

Thats interesting Johnty, I grow crown prince and they are blue. I would be very interested to see the purple version if its as good as the standard one. Do keep us informed on how it performs.

When I say "purple" I'm going by what they look like on the packet! I've never actually grown them - I mean have you seen my plot!

You scared me Johnty, I thought there was a new and improved version. They are a cracking pumpkin buddy, you will not be disapointed either in taste, yield or storage.

All these new varieties that I've never heard of! I can't wait till I've got my plot sorted out properly, then I'll be able to figure out exactly how many different varieties I can try. I've really no idea how much I will be able to grow, so expect it'll take me a couple of years to really be on the ball with all this.
I'm only just discovering that tomatoes aren't always red, carrots can be white, yellow or purple, and potatoes can even be blue! How little I really know But I'm ready to learn, and really can't wait to taste not just fresh, home grown veg, but new flavours as well!
