Does he start the meals from scratch? ie veg un-prep'd or is it 30mins providing all things have been chopped and sliced (by a small army of 30 staff!) first?
Hate it when chefs say...oh ten mins to make this and they all they have to do is assemble it and cook it....for the likes of you and I its more like-
wash all mud off - 30 mins
remove 'live in' slugs + assorted wild life - 30 mins
peel as skin so awful - 30 mins
Chop - 30 mins
and there we are all ready to cook our meal in 30 mins!!! yay
note - I am a Jamie fan really - but they are all guilty of this sometimesLast edited by Headfry; 24-10-2010, 07:49 AM.

You have a point there Headfry! I noticed in last night's programme, that most of his veg was pre-packed supermarket stuff, which would make a world of difference. Funny really, considering he did a series based on home-grown produce. He even had to cheek to add that he grows his own herbs, last night, when HE doesn't, his army of Gardeners do!
I am a fan though - but I will watch any TV cook.

Hmmm, not sure what I think of the speed thing ... Except, maybe if you get used to a particular recipe and do it quite often, you build up a real speed doing it?
I do find the guy slightly irritating to watch, but I really like the stuff he does with schools, trying to make children eat more healthily. And I do like his books. Maybe I'll try watching his programmes again, see if he bugs me less!
