Really enjoyed it, apart from the absolute tosh about how ideal a granite trough is for feeding sheep.

There was also a significant inaccuracy in describing the Edwardian Age as lasting until WW1. The proper dates were 1901-1911.....

Yup, they should definitely have swept the chimney before Ruth washed the floor and put all her best china out!

But is that because there's no other name for the period 1911-1914?

Farmer Munch told them the soil was too acid for spuds and they needed to lime it. Here I am, telling everyone my soil is too alkaline for spuds and I need to acid it

There is: 'Georgian', as in Georgian Poetry, a series of five anthologies which were published between 1912 and 1922, and which gave its name to a school of poetry from that period, just before modernism. The trouble is that 'Georgian' is usually associated with the period of the first four Georges, i.e. much of the 18th Century, and the first 30 years of the 19th.

That's traditional isn't it? Edwardian period named after Edward, Victorian after Victoria etc

What's more, when Prince Big-ears gets the top job, if he ever does, he will be, not King Charles III, as widely assumed, but George VII, it having apparantly been agreed long ago by the Royals and their advisors that he would take that name, which is his fourth given name - he's Charles Phillip Arthur George. However, his ma shows no sign of dropping off her perch for some years yet, so I think he's got a bit of a wait.

I love this show, and the Victorian version. It is brilliant that it is on for 12 weeks- right over Xmas!
