I won't watch it because of Giles Coren. He writes in my paper, he's an annoying little twerp in print: I can't watch him moving & talking, I'd shoot the telly
All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.
Sorry folks, can't say I enjoyed this much. Found it all a bit irritating (party pooper!"!) I think it was the little acting sequences trying to be Margo and Jerry and the over enthusiastic bread making that got to me. Maybe give it another look next week see how it progresses.

Me too! Wasn't sure whether it was meant to be a comedy or for real.

Definitely agree with you. Glad I recorded it so I could fast forward through a lot of the over acting. Kept having to remind myself that it is a lighthearted look and not a self-sufficiency guide, although there were some snippets of good information.
i presumed it was meant to be an amusing piss take.....it looks as though next week things will get on top of them a little .....the first one was far too ambrosial.......
Well, I enjoyed it. Giles Coren makes me laugh out loud. What a girlie he was with the chickens. And I love anything with Sue Perkins in - she has a 'laugh at it' view of life.
I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously in the slightest - or why go back to that ghastly 70s decor that we all thought was the mutt's nuts back then?
There are gardening programmes - watch them if you want to know how to do it; there are 'lifestyle' programmes - watch them to find smething to aspire to (if you're the asprational type). This was just a comic representation of what had been a very popular programme - in its day.
PS - I could have clocked the bread lady with a rolling pin if she'd behaved like that in my kitchen!

I agree Flum , I don't think it is meant to be a serious guide to self-sufficiency with some self pompous idiot saying how things should be done . Am quite looking forward to next week and wondering what Jake would make of a couple of goats in the garden.......
S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig a batch of jam is always an act of creation ..Christine Ferber
I think it's good fun with just a few good tips thrown in & they are deliberately pretending to be 'thick', Giles makes a very good living out of acting & writing like a twerp & Sue is firstly a comedian & I don't believe for one minute that either of them has done anything in the garden other than the little bits which they show on screen, it's just meant to be entertainment. I'm really looking forward to the pigs having seen the clip!
