  • Should I have a blog?

if indeed that is what one is called!!

i am not particularly computer literate nowadays, although i once was apparently! though i do like to spend a bit of time on here ...and there!

several of my friends have said i should have a blog to put on the goings on of our idilyic, if a little hectic and crazy lifestyle here in the Shire as we attempt to be self sufficient ex-townies!

i dont know myself...how does one go about it? is it easy? will it cost me anything (absolutely no spare cash at the me!) and most importantly, who would read it???

        1) it's as easy as you want to make it. Adding photos & updating will take time out of your day, obviously

        2) it's free

        3) if it's good, people will read it (good blogs tend to get linked to other bloggers and passed along by word of mouth, as it were)

I use blogger, probably because I am used to it now. Mine started off as a diary to help me remember what I did in the past. It does get rather addictive.
This is my visitor stats in the last 6 months or so. But it has not listed lots of other places.

God knows how they find my blog, but I do follow others, and then their followers look at mine and visa versa.

            United Kingdom 2,456
            France 1,916
            United States 1,892
            Canada 365
            Australia 302
            Thailand 217
            Ireland 114
            Germany 102
            India 94
            Netherlands 74

There are lots of things that you can add, and I have even stopped my web site for my own shop and turned it into a blog, as it costs me nothing to run and I learnt how to do it by doing my personal blog.

Go for it, we all like being a bit nosey and looking at how other people do things.

Vegetable Heaven This is Flummerys blog, I am sure she will not mind me mentioning, but it's how to do it wonderfully. Many other members on here have great blogs which I also follow.

I just made mine very much harder!
I'm sat here updating the school gardening blog, and watching Scissor Sisters at same time.
Somehow I managed to delete EVERY photo from the blog, so I've just been and uploaded them all again

They usually start as diaries - when did I sow my peas last year, that sort of thing. Then you get to like making posts and reading other people's too. Mr TK and I read each other's (Ta for the mention dear boy!)
Worth a try. If you find it hard, stop. It's free anyway.

I blog as a diary so I will remember things, it is there if others wish to read it.
I do write it as if I am talking to people and get an occasional comment I have a massive following of 3 people and one of them is the Wife

Do you want to - or do you just feel like you ought to cos everyone else is?

There are so many out there, there isn't enough time in the world to read them all to find out which are good, which are ok, which are not worth opening - but, of course, you have to open them to find that out.

I have a blog because i wanted to keep a diary of how my garden transformed from when we first moved in, to the present day. It has morphed into more of a veg patch diary now but i find it intesting to be able to look back, especially at photos and how it has changed over time. I don't really do it for other people to read, (although they are most welcome to) but i have the grand total of 2 followers and i have no idea who they are or how to find out!
                              Jane,
                              keen but (slightly less) clueless
