  • Beware of DHL email!!

    Hi
Just a warning for you all. Recieved an email this evening from DHL Global Services basically saying a parcel has been returned to them with incorrect delivery address on the package. It then goes on to say that attached are the details of the parcel and a mailing label which you have to print and then take to your local DHL office in order to collect parcel. As I was expecting several deliveries I foolishly opened the attachment which was a trojan. Fortunately as I tried to open it Windows Defender came up with the warning and I was able to get rid of it.

Having searched on the internet there seem to be similar emails going out from UPS and Fedex.

First one I've had but clearly launched at the right time when people are expecting deliveries for Xmas

It's a difficult one - if you're expecting a delivery you're more likely to open these (phishing) emails.

            Always ask yourself this question.
How did DHL get your E-mail address if you only gave it to the company you bought the goods off.?

You are absolutely right. Unfortunately having got in from work, I was a bit braindead and it didn;t occur to me until after I tried to open the attachment

If a company has a legitamate email to send you, it will be sent to your exact email address - if the 'TO' line comes up as being sent to 'undisclosed recipients' or similar, it will not be genuine.

This is true for emails from banks/delivery companies/paypal etc.

At the mo I am getting 2 or 3 messages a day purporting to be from Twitter - 'you have 3 unread messages, click here to collect'. I guess it's easy for me to spot these, though, as I don't do Twitter.

I always expect 'undelivered' goods to be notified via a card through the door. Will remind OH about the e-mail option not being a good idea.....

I don't know but that it is the reason I have multiple E-mail addresses.

I NEVER open an E-mail unless I know who it is from.
