Or it means "I've been dropping hints for months, leaving catalogues out, or websites open, or pointing the item in question out in shops... so you'd better have realised what I want"

I'm genuinely not fussed about people actually buying me things and I certainly never want people to spend much money so if I'd said that then the thing that would probably make me happiest is for OH to think up a really nice day out (could be a trip to a beautiful part of the country, nice meal or even to a museum I've been meaning to visit but never got round to) and surprise me. Time spent thinking and planning something lovely is worth a million pounds to me

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Himself's got one, a round one. I just wish his nickname wasn't Gunner. My problem is son and DIL who will not let me know what four of my grandchildren are interested in. I don't see them very often, so it is difficult to choose presents for them.

Girl 11, boys 8, 6 and 3. Every year himself wants to buy one of them a drum kit, but I don't think it would be appreciated!

Florence, my 4 year old grandson is big into jigsaws. There are some lovely Disney ones on the market. My 6 year old in reading all the Mr Men books and loves them. I got her a gift box with 50 books in, reduced from 140euro to 45 euro. They also love Lego, jungle ludo, snakes and ladders, jenga, play doe, Nintendo+games and any or all of the art and craft sets on the market.
Hope this is of some help.

Thanks for that Bramble. My other 4 are easy to buy for, they spend a lot of time with me (well, the Golden Girls do), but I am not sure the boys are into things like that so I'm hoping their mum sends me a list soon. If she doesn't, they're the sorts of things I am going to send.
