You can't use that it's TINSEL under another name!
Course I can, he cba taking it off again as it is lots of little bits (been there done that for years) - we also usually bung the tinsel on when he isn't looking

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Purple and gold with a hint of brown, i also have the purple scheme for my dining table this year, both inspired by Bents.Im very nervous about this year as its the very first year my family have been to me for Christmas dinner
Life isnt about surviving the storm.....But learning to dance in the rain.
I had black and purple last time I decorated the tree with a colour scheme. Loved the mix with green, but since then I've thrown out all the cheap plastic baubles gradually (as they have broken) and invested each year (during the sales for the following year's tree) in some quality ornaments (though not many glass as the toddler would find them too easily!).
These are then mixed with toddler ones that are dotted about the tree (will be retired as they get too fragile I think) and some peppermint candy sticks, just to make sure of the mismatch.
I think my favourite so far have to be some little wooden carved ones and the ceramic gloves with our names on (though have yet to find one to add to it for my son after three years!).
I have also spotted that folks do Star Wars ornaments, so might have to do some shopping there if I can find any in the sales!
Like Bubblewrap my Christmas colour scheme will be whatever the Christmas cards look like as they're the only thing I bother to put up now!
If I can find the extension lead though I might put a 'candle bridge' in the window!
Lametta is NOT tinsel (serves the same function, but definitely different). When we had a conventional tree, tinsel was added so that every light shone through part of the tinsel garland (I always got the 'heavy' type) scattering the light, but lametta was for draping over the paper chains or similar that were slung just under the ceiling!
These days, we have lights on the olive trees, battery-lights strung under the patio-roof (with tinsel wrapped around to disguise the flex) and mini mirrorballs wherever the patio lights cross, plus a few things on cupboard shelves and a small fibre-optic tree indoors.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
Nah, tinsel is a long hairy rope made of short bits of glitter and usually stays where it is put, lametta is long-ish slender individual strands that get away! You might make tinsel by 'spinning' lametta......

I have just given it a real pruning before it comes into leaf in the hope of getting some regeneration and the tree not having to work as hard getting water and nutrients higher up. If this doesn't work I'll replace it next year with something else.
