Silver and Gold here - I dread to say it, but we've put it up already (basically because we've no other time to do it expect the weekend of the 18th - bit late then ).
Little one decided it was more fun to take it down and eat/throw the decorations around. Good fun though
we've always had red and gold (no tinsle - hate the stuff) but we decorated this year so have changed our theme to tone in, turquose, teal and silver. Oh and lots and lots of fairy lights, I love fairy lights!
Imagination is everything, it is a preview of what is to become.

I'm obviously weird, because I only have red and gold sparkly stuff. With real foliage; Holly, Ivy and Conifer. On the tree I have every shape, size and colour decorations you can imagine, and about six sets of lights, but ALL the lights must be white. I hate coloured lights, and I hate tinsel, they are both banned! I confess, I do buy a few new tree decorations every year - it's an addiction! LOL

I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
Jim will, as usual, go up to the attic, pass down a bin-liner, take out a tree which I will put on a wee table and plug in. Beautiful
When the children were small I always had a real tree which they decorated, except for the lights. It was lop-sided decorating, all on one side and as high as they could reach but still beautiful.
When they were older they put a lot of thought into it and it was truly beautiful.
Nowadays we just go for beautiful!
Only if you want to Hon! I was put off colour-themed Christmad decorations when I worked in a Pub. One year pale Pink/Silver (Bleeuugh!), another year Red/Pale Blue (Puuuukes), another year... no... can't do it. Sorry!

Silver (frosted and non frosted) accents of pale turquoise and pale lilac with clear frosted and white lights.
Should we post piccies when they are up?
I dont go for a colour scheme. We have amassed numerous baubles, tinsels, etc over the years. We just chuck up what we feel like, throw away what is past it, get a few more over December or January to add to the assortment, it is what it is each year.
Does that make me weird??
My tree will be gold and red. Nobody is allowed to touch it. On pain of father christmas not coming. This goes in the hall. I am a bit funny about it matching. *ahem*
The children have their own which they can put any old tat on they like This goes in the open plan bit that takes up most of the downstairs. And they have a mini one for their room windowsill.
Ssssshhh...don't worry...I think they all maybe a little OCD
Christmas is a perfect excuse for as much clashing and gariness as is posible in our house.
The kiddies always make paper chains and lots of other hangy bits.
Each year they get to choose a new dec for the tree...and you can guarantee they won't match with the previous years stuff
Due to pup that swallows most things whole I don't think we're having a tree this year
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx
It depends where you're looking mantle piece will be covered with holly preferably with berries, over the doors a string of knitted Christmas trees and rest of the rooms a mix of what we've collected over the years.

I have just given it a real pruning before it comes into leaf in the hope of getting some regeneration and the tree not having to work as hard getting water and nutrients higher up. If this doesn't work I'll replace it next year with something else.
