Went to the shop earlier about 2ish, go in and find that all the bread has gone, nearly all the milk all there was 1 pint of blue milk and some purple milk. Why do you have to panic buy and I am suprised at the shop as well they should have had a rule where it was one carton of milk and bread per customer. Unbeliveable anyone else had any problems like this?.

Its the same where we live, there's been a steady stream of people walking past with full shopping bags. There's no cars or buses running here only the odd 4x4 are able to get through the snow.

I've just been to the corner shop, they had loads of milk - loads of everything actually.

I got some emergency milk y'day (2 litres of UHT) that'll last us a fortnight, no need to buy more

Yeah been the same here no Buses or Trains, and like you say the odd 4X4 and people with shopping bags buying everything up.

It's very sad but i doubt there doing that i mean why would they help anyone but themself ,it's stupid how some people dont care about anyone or anything apart from themself's,I bet it will be the same at xmas,i mean the shops will be shut for 1 whole day

We are fortunate insofar as we have doorstep delivery of milk. I know its more expensive than supermarket, but it is from a local dairy. It hasn't gone through the homogenisation process that supermarket milk has, and has a lovely creamy 'top'. They also deliver cream and eggs.

We have a couple of loaves in the freezer, but if push comes to shove we have plenty of bread flour, fresh and easyblend yeast, and can make our own.

Apart from a couple of hospital appointments next week, we are unusually organised, and don't need to venture out.

Shopping has sudenly become a crime? Come on, be fair, the shop maybe didn't get a delivery because of the weather problems and anyway, with the forecast the way it is, it is reasonable to stock up. That's not panic buying, that is being sensible.

Sure, buying a little more than your usual to tide you over, that's OK. Taking everything off the shelf to fill your own freezer is not very nice.

I went into the supermarket the other day and the cashier was saying to a customer in front of me about how it had been 'unusually busy this morning, with people panic buying for the big freeze' I nearly spat out my drink it was so ludicrous and funny at the same time! What do people think this is, the ice age? I'd love to see half of the lazy buggers who drive round the corner to the shops every day (and I'm not talking about the disabled or infirm) have to walk to the shops for once...yes, you have a pair of legs!

Gotta love the british media, 'the big freeze.' Makes me laugh every time. Yeah its cold but that is completley over the top (in east anglia anyway), considering the council here has been vigilantly gritting the roads just for people to whinge about how long a journey takes in their car...well try walking mate, it takes much, much longer and the pavements aren't gritted

If everyone kept the odd loaf or milk in the freezer no one would have to panic buy. We shop every week and only buy what we need for the week no extra's. I always have enough bread and milk. I dont think I have ever run out of anything.
My sister and her daughter only shop when they have run out of virtually everything, WHY ??? then they moan about how much they spent.

I suppose it's easy to be judgemental! I don't drive and have four small kids. Before the snow I had booked a Sainsburys delivery for today (which they wimped out on) and we'd also been 'eating the freezer' before the big Christmas bake/leftovers, so I make no apology for the fact that I lugged my old biddy shopping trolley to Tesco Express today and stocked up on milk, bread, loo roll and enough bits to supplement our store cupboard for the next few days!
