Watched gw for the first time in ages, ab fab. Have missed uncle monty so much. When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

I am just about to sow some beetroot in modules. I had been planning to sow direct but will now get an earlier crop through modules.
I am also disheartened that I planted my shallot jermor direct in my cold ground! I hope they still work out as they cost a fiver!
Enjoyed the flower bits too! Good show........didn't miss Toby and Alyssum at all.
Could do with 30 mins on flower plants and 30 on GYO.Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein

But Monty managed to get veg into the programme - liked the idea about growing shallots on in trays - and Carol was as enthusiastic as ever, as J said to me, we could do some of the things they do in that garden, which is quite frightening actually!!TonyF, Dordogne 24220

I agree with you Tony. I wish it had been an hour long as the introduction episode, maybe then the Rachel and Joe piece may have made more sense. Loved Monty and Carol, I hope they make more use or her and show her growing stuff and liked the bit on here are good gardens to go to.
I'm just finishing reading the Ivington Diaries about Monties garden, so will be interesting to see all I have read about.
Definitely an improvement on the last series. Roll on next Friday.Last edited by jojo2910; 12-03-2011, 09:00 AM.

I'm going to watch it again on BBC iPlayer just to make sure the wine I had didn't cloud my judgement. So glad Monty & Carol are back though. I like the way Monty cares about what he grows and how he grows it, he must have the biggest hands in the world. Still don't like Rachal she's so irritating.Last edited by ginger ninger; 12-03-2011, 09:12 AM.

I don't like Monty Don as the main presenter, Toby was a far better presenter and I think its taking the proverbial that Monty Don is getting paid for sorting out his own garden under the premise of making a TV show (at the expense of us TV license payers). The intro came across poorly and it seemed as though he was boasting about how great his house and garden is.
I really liked the dynamic that Toby, Alys and Joe had. The Rachael DeTame and Joe swift section seemed pointless and forced and as earlier posters have said, they seemed to be talking down to the lady whose garden it was.
I have the series Sky+ed but I'm not sure I'll be bothering to watch.
The format is tired and in need of a serious overhaul and hosting the show from a millionaires own massive garden seems bonkers as most people have nowhere near that sort of space. The last couple of series were really useful with the small garden sections.
Smug bloke boasts about his massive garden every Friday at 8:30pm on BBC HD.
Not for me I'm afraid.
