Everything seems to have turned to rats sh*t lately until I got to thinking about it and managed to put a positive spin on things!
First of all the cast iron guttering came down on the house bringing the cst iron stand pipe with it.
I say came down, but in effect I had to pull it down in case it went through next doors window!
The glass roof on both my main grenhouses has also collapsed neccessitang blocking the roof off with tin sheeting and wooden boards until the snow subsides.
The other greenhouse roof is basically a write off so for the time being I've just shut the door on it!
Now here comes the positive spin bit..........
I've been meaning to get up and inspect the guttering and clean it out for a while now.........mission acomplished!
I want to change the facia board and guttering downpipes from black to white to fit in with my plastic extension facia proposed colour scheme.
I can now get to the facia very easily for painting or repair. The cast iron guttering and piping seems to be ok (after inspecting it on the ground) so I can clean and paint each piece white before re fixing it.........good news!
I have been meaning to repalce the greenhouse spar that collapsed in one green house for ages so now I have no option, its just forced my hand a bit.
I was going to demolish the second greenhouse in the spring (the one with very little glass left in the roof) so it can stay patched up until then.
Every cloud has a silver lining!
Here's a nice piccie of my downcomer lying in the snow!
