I'm now sympathising with those of you who have had any building work done on your houses. It's only been going on for a week now, but despite being in the office for 4 hours I can still taste brickdust!
I came home from work last friday and my nextdoor neighbour informed me that her husband had been made redundant from Quibells after 35 years there having been told 2 hours before he was due in "not to turn up"!
Being a handy sort of guy I offered him some plastering work for a little cash-in-hand, but it turned out that the water damage over my kitchen window had rotted the lintel and dropped the bricks above about half an inch so it's been a bigger job.
And to add to the mess I decided to make the most of the disruption and get him to knock my fireplace out and knock my sitting room and dining room through into one.
So now that the entire downstairs is covered in dust and bricks; I'm confined to my bedroom and microwaving meals in the spareroom!
Anyone got any suggestions to stay sane during this period?
