Sorry in advance, as this is quite a long story:
Ok my son has had a very bad year so far, firstly Student Finance messed up all our applications for his money whilst at uni, firstly saying everything was fine, just being processed then changing their minds and saying we submitted the wrong forms (which we didnt) and loosing my OH's P60 in the process!
Anyway the long and the sort of it is, my son has not had any money this accademic year and has had to rely on some tutoring he has been doing to buy food, plus odd casual work.
As if this wasnt bad enough, whilst on his way home via a friends house last Friday, his bags were stolen from the coach - inside was just about everything he owned - all his clothes, his laptop (which is essential for uni) course books, X Box, new suit for a wedding, and all his christmas presents for his family.
Ironically even his rail card was in the bags, so he had to pay full fare for the last leg of his journey.
As he didnt have any clothes at all, other than the ones he was standing in, we went to the local charity shops to buy at least some warm jumpers. In one particular shop, Salvation Army, he mentioned his misfortune, merely as an explination of purchasing so many jumpers at once. The woman refused to take more than £3 for 5 jumpers from him, saying that charity is the act of giving as well as recieving.
What a nice lady!
Its lovely to be reminded that there are still some kind people.
I know it made my son's day, and he felt very humbled my her generosity.
