My OH is really odd with that stuff. He can "smell" people before they arrive. I know that sounds messed up but he always does it. Since he lost his sight earlier this year its come on, but he literally sits in the living room (which is at the back of the house) and suddenly says "I can smell Mum, she will be here in a minute" and she always is!! When I was a baby my dad had an accident in which he came off the top of a 4 storey building in gibralter. My mum always says she knew and that at the time it happened she sat bolt upright in bed and just said Martin. Hubby says I have fantastic instincts.

But in answer to your question, I believe that we all have instincts that some of us are in tune with and some arent. I dont neccasarily believe in omens etc. I believe that some people have things that they believe are bad luck that are personal to them. I dont neccasarily agree that they are bad luck, rather I believe there is such negativity and fear because you believe it to be bad luck that it inevitably causes some sort of hiccup.

And how many times have you been thinking about a friend when the phone suddenly rings and lo and behold it is the person you were just thinking about. (I suppose these days it may be the *ping* of an email)

I suppose the lunar eclipse caused my car to fail its MOT!!!

What an utter lot of rollocks, how can you live if you think every incident is an omen to gloom and doom. I fear its just a symptom of glass half empty syndrome for some.

I don't believe in omens, but I am open minded about some things, particularly after studying how weird the quantum mechanical universe tends to be and after having far too many things happen to me that could be termed "coincidence".

Probably unroadworthy items causing your car to fail its MOT PW nothing to do with omens or portents.
Not sure about gardeners being more in touch with stuff either, I just know that I felt "off" that particular day.

Nope. I don't 'do' omens, predictions, tact, subtlety ... etc.

Interesting topic! I think there probably are people who are 'hypersensitive', like Jax's OH but for the majority it's just filling in the blanks after the fact. I'm sure I've felt 'funny', or 'off' quite often but mainly there have been no dire consequences!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Funny I was wondering about the same thing but not about our times - I was wondering what our ancient cousins (Durids, Picts, Celts etc) would have made of the eclipse on the Solstice if it had happened in their times, I bet it would have been a time of massive portent for them.

It's still pretty special & sparks romance, wonderings and interest even in this day and age when we are far more cynical and scientifically knowledgeable about nature or 'magic' as they would have seen it.

I have actually turn some Scientific findings news pieces off in the past as I haven't wanted to loose the wonder

As for being 'sensitive' to vibes, aparently I totally freaked my beloved GrandMa as a toddler by describing a man, his clothes, smell etc when no one was there and still smell roses (like 11pm last week in bed) which was her fav flower despite her being dead 4 years now which I totally love
