Well, things seem to have calmed down a bit now without having to resort to any level of physical violence, thankfully . Following on from us making a formal complaint to the council, they have written to the neighbours and sent us an official form to register any disturbance. The first day or so they were still a bit noisy but since then it's been much better and even the darts playing has been majorly reduced so am keeping my fingers crossed that this continues. Also, think the guy must have got a job as he seems to be going out about 7.30 every morning which may be the real reason they're not partying the nights away but to be honest I don't care so long as I can sleep in peace .

PS - thanks for your support and hope I'm not tempting fate by saying things are better...........

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Having just read Choppers contribution to this thread, I can now see why he was immediately told to hold off from getting all macho on my recent thread about theft on the lottie. Yep such comments are not acceptable and are not the way to deal with things in a civilised society.

It is always difficult for all of us to deal with noisy neighbours or just plain petty behaviour, which some folk enjoy inflicting on others. But we have to rise above the temptation to behave just as badly, otherwise we are all lost. Hopefully the situation is now resolved for you Alison, and that the guy enjoys his job and starts becoming a responsible and considerate neighbour in the future.

We had noise problems from the neighbours for about 4 years. We did everything we were supposed to and got no joy. I was even having to leave the house to get away from the noise when I had just come out of hospital. The police were of no use and the council just had us fill in endless diary forms, untill eventually the neighbour got ill and ended up perminently in a care home. I felt guilty for a while as I had been around in a very bad mood the day before but after having a couple of years of quiet I think it was a mixed blessing.

          That's good news then.

Not that confident it's ongoing peacefullness yet, might have to wait until about Easter for that!

              UPDATE!!!!!!

Yesterday OH was working on his van on our front drive so could see loads of comings and goings from next door. Apparently they spent all day loading up the car and driving off then coming back and doing it again. About teatime they disappeared and haven't been back. The car wasn't there last night, the house was in darkness and the blinds were still drawn this morning. Can't be sure they've gone but OH said a TV defo went into the car so they're not just on holiday. Not sure what's happened (they never even came round to say goodbye ) but am hoping the next lot are better as don't want to go through this again.

That's good news Alison - they've probably done a "moonlight" and not paid their rent. The landlord might be a bit more careful who he puts in next time. In any case, at the first bit of noise, put your foot down with a firm hand!

                          Wow, what a result.

When the new tenants move in, go round with a cake and a pre-emptive strike. Say the last lot were evicted for noise

I like, a lot. Do you think they'd like to help me get through the marmalade mountain / lake I seem to have made this season? Kill two birds with one stone and all that
