  • Ugh!

Oh I am SO sick of winter... it is grey and depressing and currently wet.... is it not time for spring to hurry up and come along?!

Haven't been to the plot in weeks - ill me, ill children (for 4 weeks ), solid frozen ground, snow and now rain am desperate to get out there and get going!!

How is everyone else getting on with miserable winter?

Like everyone else I think, looking forward to Spring. I don't want any more of the white stuff that kept me in the house for days at a time. At least it feels like Spring is on the way when lots are already sowing tomatoes, chillies and onions. Keep smiling, it will be here soon.

can't sow tomatoes or chillies etc.... my greenhouse has been overtaken by dh

We are supposed to be having a new wall and roof on the greenhouse so while the GH was empty, we decided to use it for storage.... well the wall is half built... and we haven't seen the builder since due to the weather so dh and FIL put 3/4 of the new roof on (as the old one leaked in a bad way) and the GH is still full....... They have a date of Feb 15th to get the GH cleared for me to use... can't see it happening somehow....

I am most worried about my girls (bees) I really would like a mild still day so I can pop a little more candy in there - just in case....big drama Christmas Eve - Mr or Mrs Woodpecker had found the bee hives and their wonderful content - honey and my girls lucky for us we got there just in time with only a couple of ml of wood left before the woodpecker had got right through the box!!! phew. Mr HF built cages to keep them out!!! -4 deg on chirstmas eve and a good foot of snow over there! He saved the day- sadly I could offer no help as the cold had made me very poorly and I had to get inside. Oh the pain when the feeling comes back into my hands. Mr HF came home to me in floods of tears - he thought one of the boys cats had been hurt! Cats were safe!
So I will be very glad when spring arrives!!! got my seed potatoes last weekend! and am about to order some seeds.....yay its getting closer - ALSO a friend has BUDS ON HER SNOWDROPS!!!!!

I can't wait for spring either. It feels like its been winter forever, and we've still got a few months to go

I would be propagating seeds to make myself feel better but I'm off on holiday next week for 3 weeks to escape the misery (I'm using my SAD as an excuse!) and when I get back, I will be sufficiently less miserable to crack on with some positive thinking and planting for spring

Headfry - hope your bees are ok xx

Buzzingtalk - friend and I were talking this morning and we both feel that spring and summer are much shorter now, autumn is very wet and winter seems to last so much longer - did it really last as long as this when we were children?

Had a cheerful morning with friend and her 3 youngest children (3yrs x2 and 8mths)so feel much better despite the fact it is still grey and raining outside(!)
