Water butts in particular. I would like to have water butts in our centenary garden for obvious reasons but would they have been the wooden barrel type ones a hundred years ago and where on earth would I be able to find them......../

You may if you are lucky be able to persuade one of the Whisky distillers to let you have one from one of their cooperages and if you are really really lucky, they may even pay for carriage .Last edited by Aberdeenplotter; 14-01-2011, 01:08 PM.

Just remembered when I was little my Grandad had a big green metal waterbutt outside his kitchen door...It was sort of barrel shaped and ridged like it was corrugated .......bet there's none of them around anymore.......S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig
