radiator advice please!!!

We have a tiny ensuite loo and sink off our bedroom- tucked into the eves - and we are ripping out the old stuff out and starting anew.

It's only about 5 metres cubed but could do with a bit of heat in there over the winter.
I'm sure up to 500w would do it.( 250w probably)
I know you can get those tube radiators you can use in greenhouses- but there isn't electricity on that side of the room- but there is a central heating radiator on the other side of one of the plasterboard walls.
I've had a google but to no avail....has anyone ever seen a very small central heating radiator maybe 6/8" high by 2 ft long???..or something else that might do( preferably with a choice of settings)????

I have seen one, as I was after one like that to put half way up a wall when we were planning our bathroom.. Doesn't help you much that it was in a local store in Cardiff.. It was a chrome rad though - classed as 'Designer'. We didn't buy it in the end though - just went with a normal towel warmer.

coincidently, I'm after one, the other way around for my hall as that's bloomin freezing! I've only 8" wide, and need one about 2-3' tall Just to take the chill off.. if I find one on my travels in a larger/national store I'll report back.

Edit: actually the shop wasn;'t a local branch, I remember now - it was a RIP OFF branch, called Porcelanosa.

Really nice stuff, but so so so expensive.

something like this? At least you can use the manufacturers name to help? You'd be able to run a small rad off an existing inlet/outlet pipe - we have done, but get professional advice as there's somethng to do with the distance etc from the flow/return pipes.

Oh gosh- I LOVE that shop..I've nicked ideas from them...and have bought a few tiles from them in the past...but I can only imagine the cost of a towel heater from them!!!!

I'm still looking...tis only a cubby hole, so I wn't pay much for extra heating- when could in effect leave the door openas an alternative.
I just don't like looking straight at a loo from my cosy bed.

We've not got enough upright wall to fit a vertical one...but I'll certainly keep my eyes peeled for you during my hunt CM

Hmm...I've only got about 10cm depth to play with for the radiator- plus a few cm behind that for the fixings.

but- yep- basically that sort of height and length!

Presuming you have a ceiling light fitting,look at tlc direct,they supply a light and circular heating element which work independently or together.I fitted one in inlaws bathroom some years ago,this done the job. Heater is 750w.ok for lighting circuit.

Have you considered an improvised 'radiator' consisting of a sort of long S shape in copper pipe?

Think of a wider 'under the stairs 'sized cubby hole( in the eves)!

Hilary...hmm..that's exactly what we had in a cupboard at our last house and it worked a treat- but it couldn't be regulated...do you know of any way that can be done???
Maybe a simple S might end up being the cheapest option...but it's only 14mm( I think) pipe.

...would still prefer one attatched to the central heating though-cos we are already on 12Kw and the house STILL keeps tripping
( ...for those who aren't aware- in France you have to choose your top Kw demand- and if you go over it- the house trips. Usually when it's already pitch black)...the higher you choose- the more the basic charge!

Ah...solid floor
(Sounds weird for upstairs I know- but there's a 15cm layer of solid fireproof/soundproof insulation on the floor which would need digging out.)

if it is only for a small toilet there is no point in heating it when not in use (presumably there is no window so the light will always be on when in use) so i would suggest an old fashioned radiant heat lamp, the big spotlight type Infrared Heat Lamps - Osram - Sylvania - Philips - GE
