This is driving me potty!
We have twelve light-bulbs in our kitchen/diner. Three light units, each with four lights. They take GU10 bulbs, which blow with annoying regularity.
Mr. G decided to be 'green' and buy LED replacement bulbs, and replace the Halogen ones as they blew. I had no problem with this, until they were fitted. In order to see, in the room, we now have to have all the lights on, as the new bulbs are useless. They are so dim as to be a waste of money, and, they last no longer than the Halogen ones.
Today, Mr. G went to B & Q, and bought a box of 8 Halogen bulbs, as we had two blow this week, and he has just come home and replaced the blown ones. Both new bulbs blew, as soon as they were fitted. He fitted two more, and they blew! He then replaced one of the working LED bulbs with a Halogen and that blew!
He has tested the light units, and all are fine, no shorts. He has now turned all the lights off, to let everything cool down (himself included), and is replacing as required, and leaving off. So we'll see (or not!) later.
My only deduction from this, is that B & Q bulbs are sh*te. We have wasted £12.48 today on 8 bulbs, and so far, 6 have blown (he's just turned them on again, and the most recently replaced one blew). Tomorrow, B & Q will be getting the bl**dy things back!!!!!
So, do I buy new light units, or expensive bulbs from a reputable seller?
