I'm just getting to the point where I REALLY need another dog, after losing Gemma in September. Time to phone our local rescue centre......

STOP IT - I'm insane with jealousy! All my local centre has is Staffies, I don't want a Staffie. Yes, I know they're lovely, if you like them...

Same here and to encourage OH, who has Parkinsons, do get his daily exercise We are looking at getting a puppy and a small dog, something like a shitzu cross bichon frise or King charles spaniel cross bichon frise. Hoping to get it round Easter when I will be off work long enough to get it settled in and book some puppy training classes.

Same here, looked at battersea website but mainly staffies or dogs that are too big for us.

Do you mean the one beginning with 'M' that I can't think of the name of?

There's a dogs trust rehoming centre near me if you want to brave the M25, SR! It is in Harefield. I'll volunteer to come too!
PS their dogs available for adoption are on their website

One of my friend's got a border terrier pup yesterday - he's lovely! Looks like trouble though...luckily they're farmers and he'll get a lot of exercise!

If the lady who runs the place I got Gemma from hasn't got anything to suit, I'll have to try Dogs Trust (preferred them when they were NCDL), but the local one is better.
I don't suppose there will be any Staffies. I wouldn't mind a Staffie, but not just now, because OH still has his dog and she is terrier enough. I don't think 2 terriers in one household is a good idea!
Hoping for a border-collie cross, maybe a spaniel cross?
I'll see what I fall in love with when I get there. That is the important thing for me.

Hilary I was just noseying through the dogs they have and the RSPCA (as one does!) and there seems to be loads of Staffies - all across the country. I saw a few collie crosses and one or two Spaniels - there are several greyhounds as well -and the odd Saluki cross.

Yep, irresponsible (what I meant by chavvy) owners who breed them

Gemma chose me. She's going to be a tough act to follow, for any dog. I need one with a brain. Before Gemma I had a working-bred collie. Hoping the one that fits isn't too big!

My parrot chose me - I was actually favouring her brother, but when we opened the cage she jumped on my chest for a cuddle

Bit like my feline - she climbed up the side of the wire cage the kitties were in and miaowed right at me. She's been nagging me ever since...
