so, finally did get to the rescue centre after strops, poor directions & 1000s of pot holes.
They were 80% Staffs, with half a dozen lurchers/greyhounds and an absolutely gorgeous but too big mastiff cross (he's much handsomer in the flesh, but HUGE)

I loved Ruby, she was a total darling (and I'm not a greyhound fan) but it was ***** who unexpectedly stole my heart (I'm not telling you the name in case I go back for her) great on the lead, friendly & obedient

We went to our favourite rescue centre today, not many dogs in, nearly all puppies (house-training a puppy could be a problem, we work erratic hours, but dogs come with us in the car).
One dog I rather liked, but he was a police-captured stray, so they have to allow a week or so in case his owners turn up. He was the ony one in the place that MIGHT have been part Staffy, going by head shape, but much leggier (loads of Collie cross pups, a JR and a JR cross, plus a couple of Springers).
Trying again in a couple of weeks.....
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Retired Greyhounds sleep for twenty three hours a day- according to Annette Crosby who has several. They may have problems resisting your small furry/feathers creatures, though.

I can confirm this - on both counts...

My friend had a greyhound and it was a beautiful, gentle creature, but it's breath was vile. Don't think it could sit down either.
