Nicos, it's bizarre isn't it, we're going through our water stock so quickly and we're nowhere near the hot season yet - we really do need rain now, according to my garden diary we've had none of any worth for at least a month.

The upside is the garden is already starting to look glorious

I may have to bow out of this. The ferry is 300, nine hour trip, then driving after, I've got someone looking for less expensive options, and I have to see how well the van does at it's mot next week [it's reliable, but 22 years old which = lots of welding....]

I'm not sure now, I just looked for the bog standard portsmouth to cherbourg, but I have someone who is better than me with stuff like that looking for alternatives now

Didnt manage to get hold of the tent bloke before I left, Mme P has instructions to hunt him down whilst he's sober to get him to confirm. I dont envisage any problems on that score tbh.
Now back in work, feeling very sore after I mistook a roundabout for a bend in the road at a decent speed, but for once I have something decent to say about the Germans, my little Audi doesnt appear to have suffered at all, unlike the flower bed in the middle of the roundabout.

We have a tent etc! I'm getting quite excited about this trip now. What are we doing to contribute to food/big tent/water etc? Do we just bring pot luck for food or is something being more organised?

I think it's a free for all- bring your own and a bit more to share out.
(Meat is dreadfully expensive here- so for those of you crossing the channel-you may want to bring that from the UK???

We'll need to cost up the tent- but can't see that'll be much at all....hopefully boble will have an idea??

Re contributions etc, really it doesnt matter. The loo's are free, the big tent (almost definitely) will cost buttons, if everyone chips in with food and stuff then there should be no problems.
There will be stuff laid on on arrival (Ahhhhh just a quick point, I dont actually get back from work till VVVV late on the Thursday, so if anyone is arriving on that Thursday then I hope you speak French) and all hands will be needed to put up the big tent.

As there arent going to be huuuuuge numbers, and one of the daughters isnt even about, there wont be a problem with having a shower in the house should you wish for those few intrepid campers.

My bbq is currently chez mon pote being welded back together and having some legs and wheels put on, I have a wood pile larger than a european butter mountain so you only need to provide something edible to put on it should you wish.

PM's will be sent today giving directions and phone numbers in case you get lost.
