  • Nicos, will bring recipes!
Scarey55, I feel a rather alcoholic week end coming on!!!
Bob, it'll depend on my radio zaps but I'll let you know. Again, if I can bring or do anything, just yell.

    • Hi folks

We're getting rather excited too. Not sure about the alcohol thing for us, J doesn't drink much but we do have some of her home made ratafia which we'll bring. I think I may have a couple of jars of my home made dark cherries in eau de vie which are pretty good too.

Plus I'll make some clafoutis (with other cherries which have been swimming in rose wine for a year) and choc brownies on the day before and some other bits and things.

Bob, we'll be there late afternoon, we're leaving here about 9 am and we're told by the Owens it takes 5/6 hours tho there will have to be an official lunch stop tho not for two hours.

Nicos wants some of our oak and beech seedlings from the woods, if anybody else wants some, let me know, I'll be digging them up in the next few days. And I'll be sorting through the seed boxes too, amazed at how quickly they're emptying now I'm not doing other people's gardens and I'm concentrating on our own.

I have an excellent moule pasta recipe (italian with a thick tomato sauce) that can be cooked with chicken or crevette for those not of a moule disposition and I also do a pretty good moule Gary Cooper - long story about the name - which can also have crevette as a substitute. Happy to cook either of them for the assembled masses at some stage, variations easy for those who don't get moule - if they're still in season that is.

      • OMG ........nearly here and I'm not at all organised . We're on the 7:00am fastcraft from Poole which gets in to Cherbourg at 10:30 , then not sure how long it'll take to drive down. Usually we stop for lunch at a service station before Rennes so I'm guessing about 3ish .......Is anyone else travelling from the UK ?

        • Those timings work perfectly for me, will give me time to get to the shops first thing etc. From Cherbourg to me is a little under 3 hours (although it has been said that I may drive a little bit quickly).
Unless Taff is coming I think you're the only ones coming from England Binners, as Hilary is driving up from Spain, and the rest are Froglodytes I think?
Has anyone done a long range weather check? Dont know if such a thing is possible with that much time to go. Just spoke to Mme P who told me "il pleut comme vache qui pisse" just at the moment, so hope that goes away before the weekend. (She also said somebody called Pippa had asked if there were spaces still in the garden??)
On a separate note, can anyone play "F"? If so, please take time to show me over the weekend, or my guitar will end up in the bbq as tinder.

Just looked on Metcheck for Rennes but it doesn't go that long range......
What other essentials are needed (apart from Nicos's tbags) from UK, bearing in mind they'll be packed in the car for about 24hrs.....

Got lots of other 'stuff' but is anyone looking for anything spesh/different???

....arriving 3ish too if that's OK???

                • There will be brew making stuff laid on, for all other stuff I have no idea what people eat/want to eat etc.
There will also be various soft drinks and non soft drinks for general consumption.
Now I think about it, could I be really cheeky Binners and ask if you could bring a jar of Coffeemate and a small jar of Heinz Sandwich Spread (I will of course reimburse on arrival). I'm sure I probably could find them in France if I searched hard enough but its only for special treats so I dont search really.
There is a boulangerie in the village that does brilliant CAAAAAAAAAAAAKE, its about a 900m walk, other than that I'm sure it can be played by ear.
Have you heard from the Bee Bloke Tony?
Other than that, I'm sure things will sort of work themselves out over the weekend.

                              • A thought for those less than confident around hounds. Upon arrival you will be greeted by the Hounds of the Baskervilles. One rather large scary looking black one and slightly less large but still reasonably scary looking German Shepherd type looking thing. They are both "just doin their job Sir!" The black one will run a mile before coming to say hello, he truly is scared of his own shadow, and the Shepherd will bark a bit before coming to say hello. Have NO fear peeps, they really are just for show (but dont tell any burglars please). Ta
