I only use them in the Autumn, when they sell seeds at fifty pence a packet!

We have lots of the larger "Garden Centers" that sell gifts i.e jam's, pickles, cakes, coffee etc they even sell baby grows...they'll even fit double glazing in your house if you ask them nice.
But I like to talk to the people that actually sowed the seeds, not just took them of a lorry and displayed them so I support mi local Nursery.

i like a sunday afternoon at the local garden centres(i say local but there are around 10 on one stretch of the clyde valley about 20 miles away) where i can get some great ideas and pick up a few bargains at the same time..
it also lets the wife think shes had a days shopping( her fav passtime) without visiting a high street!!!
a few of the garden centres are family run and have nurseries attached which i find are the best ones and the staff are great with advice!!Last edited by bigt1888; 30-01-2011, 12:49 AM.May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Like Dottie the stretch of the A30 from Bagshot to Egham is my normal hunting ground, but on the odd occasion I'm anywhere near Enfield, North of London then I can't resist a visit to Crews Hill. A bunch of Garden Centres within walking distance of each other, a very dangerous place for the wallet. There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

What I like most in a garden centre is the sale of seeds at the end of the year.
Otherwise I don't shop there, its a nursery for me, smaller scale, more appropriate profit margins and generally stronger healthier plants.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

by Marb67I have just given it a real pruning before it comes into leaf in the hope of getting some regeneration and the tree not having to work as hard getting water and nutrients higher up. If this doesn't work I'll replace it next year with something else.
