I've had good results sprouting the dried peas that they sell for making mushy peas. (The bachelors bigga ones) Just give them a soak overnight first. It's only about 44p a box.

No, any pulses you sprout will need to be intact, so no split peas or lentils. They should still have the skin around them, if you know what I mean.

Let us know how you get on Thea, I'm quite interested to try this. Himself will not touch them, but they'd be great for me.

I grew a row of them last year, to save my own seed for sprouting

Glad I saw this thread. My hand hovered over a bag of mung beans in Tessies the other day, but I was put off having a go at sprouting them because it said on the bag that they shouldn't be eaten raw! Was this just refering to the seeds in their unsprouted state? - Beacause of course technically they are still raw when they are sprouted. All confused now....

Mung beans are hard when a seed, I would had thought you may have a problem with choking on them.

Fine to eat sprouted, takes about 5 days and wash 3 times a day.

I'm going to put a bag of these on my shopping list this week, just to give it a try.

Beansprouts that you buy in a bag (the white ones) are sprouted mung beans

I knew Mung beans were a popular option for sprouting, so was just a bit suprised that it said they shouldn't be eaten raw on the pack. What the heck! Going shopping tomorrow, I'll get some. If you don't hear from me for a while.......
