  • Estate Agents....

Just thought i would share this
I've just sold my london house (long boring story why etc........)
but when the estate agent came to take the pictures for the publicity, web site etc she did not then use the one of the front room. When asked why she said "Its got too many books in it .....people are put off by books."
    Would you be?
    Was she right?
My Photo is actually of the other end of the room...never did get to see the estate agents one

Absolutely not. If the room looks cluttered and dark, then I could understand why, but not simply because a room had lots of books in it. If anything, it would encourage me to have a look.

Being really nosey, I have to ask what it is that's hanging from the wall?

No such thing as too many books, if I had the massive dream house then I'd have a room with bookcases floor to ceiling and one of those ladders that you can wheel round to get to the books. Would also have a lovely big comfy chair where I could sit for hours although perhaps it's best I don't have this as I'd never get anything done

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Hmmm- I don't think my house would ever sell. Would they accept a room lined with books and called a study?
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

We've no chance of ever selling our house then, it's like a library!

I would call it the library! You can't have too many books. There are plenty of people who CAN read that might want to buy your house!

I was offered a piano the other day, for DD, but at almost 6 I thought it was a little too soon, to punish my ears with that!!

Music, is lovely except when played by the tone deaf, tony fat fingers, and tony tiger. The're grrreat.

The estate agent might have been covering her/his tracks, perhaps the picture was just poorly taken.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

If books put people off, what does a piano do?
I suspect we see more houses than most people do, and nearly all of them have been sold (well, sale agreed) before we see them (surveys for purchasers). The great majority have plenty of books in!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
