Nah, I think having science programmes presented by nutty old duffers just puts people off science, especially the youngsters at school who would regard the presenter as a geek and not someone they would want to aspire to or regard as a role model. Heck, it's all about image these days (sadly).

If Prof Cox can get people interested in science (as shown by the interest of those posting in this thread) then he's done his job I reckon.

Also presenting the show in the chosen locations makes the information more memorable and inspiring I think. It would be really dull in a studio setting in front of a black board.

The media press just want to get a rise out of people to sell papers, seems it is working!

What Brian has said he is trying to do is get Science to be trendy, fashionable if you will and shake off the notions of old men in white coats with crazy hair and 2" thick spectacles.
Whenever you see him in an interview you can see the passion he has for his subject and My 12 year old nephew watches wide eyed apparently. He has started saying he cant wait for science lessons at school, not only that but he actually grasped the second law of thermodynamics quite well from the example BC gave and even showed me lol.

Did anyone notice the scenery last night? Mr Frosty and I were watching and close to the end Brian Cox is standing on a mountain, in the back ground one of the mountains looked like Ben Nevis. Does anyone know if we are right? If you do know can you also confirm that the jaggy mountain scene is the Cuillins and the loch is Loch Coruisk. On a slightly different note we know for sure Brian Cox is not vain after last nights episode, the poor man's face

When Brian Cox was in the centrifuge the forces caused his face to sort slide down - droppy lips, droppy eyes. Seriously weird.
