they also warned me about the dangers of samurai swords and crossbows in the house as well advised me to get rid of them as it was safer..... i again told them to get lost
Unless those swords are 'purely decorative' (ie, blunt) it is probably illegal to own them in the UK.
There is an electricity substation near here surrounded with a strong fence topped with razor wire. I presume this is OK because the danger to anyone who actually got in would be much worse than the risk of injury from trying, but on the whole, it is very much disapproved of at the least.
If it's a garden wall, it's not only burglars who might be climbing it, there are (in some places) children who might climb over after a lost ball etc. Of course they shouldn't, but the fact that sometimes they DO is why glass-topping etc is strongly discouraged. Laws being laws, no distinction is usually made between locations where this may happen and those where it is extremely unlikely....

There are some US cases and plenty of 'my friend's brother's aunty's neighbour knows someone it happened to' but I agree it's probably nothing more than a slow news day story
Thanks for that Seahorse. As I suspected and yeah the Tony Martin case was a little different. Defending yourself is one thing, but there has to be limits. Still good to know that it's just a bit of trouble stirring.

there was also a case of a Rescue Helicopter crewman giving CPR to a bloke they dragged from the water, who then sued them for 'severe bruiding to his chest'!!!

        WTF?

There is justice sometimes, even if it is street justice. There was a case in America, near Las Vegas, where a young woman was kidnapped in her car. It was obvious that the crim was after rape. They drove to the desert, where the woman escaped from the car, and ran off, screaming. The man caught her, but before he could do anything, there was a loud, sustained clicking noise. Without either realising it, they had run into the middle of a detachment of US Marines on maneouvres. The woamn was rescued by over 100 heavily armed, very highly trained, and extremely angry elite soldiers. Love it.
