I have to say I got suddenly sceptical, so I had a quick look and unfortunately, it's all true.
Found the exif data for another pic that was online, complete with gps latitude and longitude.
so errr...if there's an option to turn it off, turn it off

As far as I know, my camera doesn't have that technology, and I'm sure my phone isn't a smartphone, but unless you post your photos in the wrong place, it isn't going to be an issue anyway. The article mentions Twitter, anyone know whether it happens on facebook as well?Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

OMG! Really? If I post a pic of a cake I baked or some seeds I'm growing, someone could find out where I live and come and murder me in my bed??? Goodness, I'll throw my phone in the bin right nowI was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

It's certainly something to be aware of if you have a single device that takes pictures and has GPS. However, there are a number of programs both free and paid for that can manipulate EXIF data.
In fact in Windows7 if you right click on a pic, select "Properties" and then "Details" you can edit some of the EXIF data. There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
