It has been for a while now.

Grumpy was made redundant 18 months ago, after having been in the same job for 22 years, and he's still here, cluttering up the house, to this day.
There's just nothing out there.

Well I had my two minute 'meeting' yesterday and was informed that I am staying! Phew!Its obviously a relief but at what cost. You know the scenes from the movies where they have the fella tied to a chair, shine the light in the face etc etc. I was actually made to feel like I was going to be sacked instead of possibly redundant. The fact that I sell one in two jobs, have a better margin than everybody else were glossed over in favour of sonny boys figures, bear in mind he is being fed the better leads by Mum on reception and he needed to sell £100, 000 more business to make the same money I did.
I apologize if I sound bitter and ungrateful, especially when so many have shared their own stories, but I worried that its going to be me next and I can't compete as its not a level playing field. To boot they plan to overhaul the wage/ commission structure, delaying payments and adding to my duties by covering the other showroom when needed, 22 miles away at my cost!

No, ''guys we need your help in these tough times'' more '' its your fault that people have stopped coming into the showroom, what do you mean you can't sell to thin air''

However I do at least have a job whilst I do look for something else and I am thankful for that.

Congrats (I think!) Dave. I sympathise totally, having been made redundant from a family firm, when the Boss' best mate (previously removed because he was totally useless) came back in to the company with an open chequebook and shiny pen! I was mightily p***ed off at the time, but now they've 'gone-under-changed-name-and-re-started-again' for about the third time, I'm pleased I'm no longer part of it.

I hope you find something suitable, or, alternatively, I hope they show you a little appreciation for the efforts you put in to lining their pockets.

I don't mean to sound quite as bitter and twisted as that actually makes me sound! LOL
