Yep, they ate it. We never told.
Ooooh! Reminds me of when I house shared. One of the guys got soo fed up about not having any milk left that he dyed his blue! Another guy put laxative in his! Fortunately I had learnt at a very early age to drink black coffee, so it didn't affect me

Can we have a separate thread for the nasties? (or is it all part of the grand scheme of things?)

I hope that the 'nasties' don't outweight the goodies! Having said that, I've done my share of 'serves you right' actions which I am not going to share with you 'orrible lot!

Today, however, I did compliment a lady on her choice of dwarf magnolia that she was buying for her mother for Sunday. Parting shot ...HATH: ' I do hope you have a lovely day on Sunday and that your mum likes the plant' ....lady shopper: 'If she doesn't, she'll end up wearing it!'

Yesterday, got a big hug from Dexters Aunty Margaret next door when I took her a bunch of flowers and basket of fruit and a card "from the dog on mothers day" on behalf of Dexter - he could carry the flowers but not the basket of fruit.......When I went to the supermarket, I bought the lady who always serves me a bunch of flowers as a surprise! She is a wonderful character and we trade insults and sarcastic remarks on a Saturday morning - she has a wonderful sense of humour and we have a right good giggle! She was taken by surprise and was speechless - for once! Made me feel nice and warm inside that I had made two people's day! Bernie aka Dexterdog

That's a lovely idea, DDL, will have to do that myself some time as a random act of kindness.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Our school's fruit order didn't turn up (again) so I split my apple into 12 slices so the children at least had something

My heart warms to hear your tales, I am honoured to know such lovely people.

Today I phoned MiL and let her talk for a while. I'm taking her to her chiropody appointment tomorrow so we made arrangements and ensured she was ok. I spent time on Friday, and Saturday with her - she'd managed to kill her telephone by taking it off the charger and keeping the handset in her pocket all day, so I took her to buy a new one with an extension on Friday, charged it and put the numbers in for her. Had to test it today! BW and I went to see her for Mother's Day yesterday, so she's had a lot of company lately, what with her broken wrist and all.

                You absolute cutie!!!

This happened to me today. I didn't have 20p for my usual morning trip to the fruit trolley so a child in my class got her apple cut in half so that I could have some - honest.

I'm not always nice - I have to balance the karma with some evil deeds now and again. Last summer I was biking back from the Lottie with a bottle of comfrey brew to use in my garden... an obnoxious bloke leaned out of a taxi window (the taxi slowed down specially) and yelled some choice abusive stuff at me.
I caught him up at the pub; he was all dressed up to go in, and I chucked the opened bottle of stinking comfrey juice thru the window, and then pegged it - a stunned silence followed eventually by "effing slag". Priceless

PS ...In my experience nice people tend to get 'used' so ..as NYPD Blue used to say..."Take care out there folks" ...or something like that!!! [/QUOTE]

My random act of kindness today is to let Nicos know that I remember the quote she's looking for, it was Hill Street Blues & the sarge used to say:'Let's be careful out there' & I totally agree, sometimes you just get weird looks if you do something nice for someone. I try to always be polite & hold doors open for people & it's lovely when they smile back & say thanks (sometimes in a really surprised way as though it's never happened before!)

Yesterday I fixed up my sister's bike for her - she hasn't ridden it since two kids ago!

Today she left the kids with hubby while we both biked into town to pick up my copy of GYO Veg from the library

Oh, I sometimes do a midnight delivery of surplus courgettes/marrows to my neighbours (I leave them on the step - is that strictly speaking a kindness though?)

We cut FiL's grass on Saturday. He is 83 and suffering badly from arthritic complaints. My husband reckons the big mower is like pushing a washing machine around the garden - wouldn't be so bad if it had some wheels. I used a little flymo effort on the front patch. Next time, we're taking our own mower! If that big old job was mine it'd be on Ebay pretty sharpish!

My act of kindness for today was to give half a bag of horse carrots to someone who'd run out of them. Little things....

                                New York....just got me thinking...
Only been there twice.(ho hum !)
First time was nearly 30 yrs ago and it was pretty scarey- no eye contact- advised to stand well back from kirbs and edges of platforms incase pushed into car/train from behind-don't wander off the main streets.... etc etc
Last time was Feb 2002 just after the trade towers. People were holding doors open , saying thankyou, smiling, and chatting to strangers in lifts.
Pity it took such an horrendous attack for people to re-evaluate their lives.
