  • Happy Pancake Day.

I love pancakes whether it's covered in sticky syrup, lemon and sugar or a big pile of cheese. I also have very fond memory's of making them with my late mum when I was a little girl.
I't doesn't have to be Shrove Tuesday in our house for us to have pancakes ether .

Questions :- What's your favorite topping or toppings. Have you got some happy memories you'd like to share with us?

I like plain butter, lemon and a sprinkle of sugar on mine.

However tonight we are having Omelet for tea, in homage to the pancake. No butter, lemon or sugar on that!

More used to making them than eating them. Before my 3 children all left home I would stand in the kitchen for over an hour making pancake after pancake. As they were eaten the empty plates came back for refills. I seem to remember it was always me getting sick of standing there cooking them than the children (and Himself now I come to think of it) getting tired of eating them!

We tend to have Chilli on our "main course" and then go old school with lemon and sugar on "dessert".

I put the chilli in the slow cooker before I left this morning.

Kiddies love them, which is good as I can't stand them but love making them.
They like either just a sprinkly of sugar or some chocolate spread...DD made herself sick with some Strawberry and cream ones a couple of weeks ago so I think she's gone off that combo

I'm going to try making some cheese and spinach filled crispy ones for their main course.

Listening to the Archbishop on radio 2 this morning, I'm inclined to have a go at lime juice, raw sugar, and maple syrup this year.

I normally have lemon and caster sugar.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Do a general mix of fillings, make up the mixture then get loads out, savoury ones will be ham, cheese, stir fry etc and then sweet ones of chocolate sauce, lemon and sugar, maple syrup, jam, banana, maybe stewed fruit etc. First person cooks one then makes up as they want, leaving the next person to cook theirs. By the time it's the first person's turn to cook again they have finished their first one. Simples, avoid any poor sod having to cook them all but have nothing and it also means that you can cook how you want, preferably nice and thin not horrible and stodgy - can't stand thick ones, taste too eggy and don't roll nicely.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I love lemon and sugar on our pancakes, but we frequently have 'dropped scones' at other times of year, (most weeks actually) also known as scoth pancakes and I like them with jam and butter or jam and cream.
Mind you, wouldnt turn down maple syrup and banana and cream........

Thin pancakes, lemon and sugar (but possibly after a savoury version, and I do have a favourite). Thick 'risen' ones are American style, and great with maple syrup (and crispy bacon goes well with that!) but OK with ice-cream and fruit too.
Best savoury filling I ever tasted, thin slice of ham laid on flat pancake, filling of mushrooms, herbs and creamy sauce, then roll up. DELISH!

Thick or thin, large or small - love them all!

Mr. G always asks "How many do you want?" My reply is always "How many can you make!?"

We'll have savoury fillings first, then sugar, lemon juice and cream. Well, I will, anyway. This year I may just go mad and have sliced Jamaica Ginger Cake inside and Ice Cream on top. Just for a change!

Crispy bacon and maple syrup on top, raisins or banana in them, for me.
