Just been having a look and Welsh rarebit (as opposed to rabbit to stress the absence of meat) has beer in it (bitter) and English Rarebit has the toast soaked in red wine. Now there's lovely.

Welsh rabbit, which is its derivative, is a bit like bombay duck, or mock turtle soup, in that it doesn't actually contain its title ingredient.

can anyone think of any others.
