  • Lost Birth Certificate

When my daughter was going on the ski trip ( before ) we had to supply passports for varyfying who she / we are. The school went on a collective passport. We only have out of date ones. As my OH was born in India back in the 50's he also supplied his Birth certificate, the school checked with the passport office if they would need that as well, ppo said yes it wouldnt hurt to send it in. Duly sent with everything else the school sent.
The PPO have lost it, it wasnt logged in or out by them. The school recieved everything else back but not OH's BC. ( this was back in November )
To say my OH is fuming is an understatement. The school are trying to get it back and have asked the PPO to look for it.
What else can we do to either get it back ( unlikely ) or get a new one, as it was produced in India how to we procceed.

The post office will tell you that you should send valuables by recorded post, but that's not much help now. They "lost" my passport a few years ago, it never did turn up

Its not the Post office that lost it TS its the passport office, they have no record of recieving it but they recieved everything else that was in the same envelope sent by the school by recorded delivery.

I think British as OH's parents were living in India when he was born. MIL will know. This is when you wish you had taken a copy.

            Ah, I see

It sounds like it was left in the envelope when it went in the bin, or fell under the desk, or ...who knows. Numpties

Numpties indeed, not sure but it might have been inside OH's passport.

I'd find the e-mail address of where he was registered ( that'd be on his passport???) and ask them for a copy.
(You have to pay about £9 in the UK for a UK birth Cert)

Just a thought....Has his mom got a copy by any chance???

If he is a British Citizen (although born oveseas) you should still be able to apply for a copy of his birth certificate from the General Register Office - http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ce...verseas.asp#o1

It was dark. And cold. And very, very empty.

And in the middle of all of the dark, cold, emptiness lay something darker, and colder, but very, very full.

New passports should arrive within 10 days, we applied for one for my husband before we got married, the Post office should be able to help you with the correct form to apply. Personally, I would be pursuing the Passport office and insisting they pay the costs
