Tetanus????

I've just mentioned tetanus on another thread....is it still recommended to have a booster every 10 years????

I had to google it: The full course of the tetanus vaccine consists of five doses. The primary course consists of three injections, which provide protection against the infection for a number of years. The fourth and fifth doses are booster doses, which help maintain protection.
After the fifth dose, immunity remains for life and further boosters are not usually required

As a gardener, I've had numerous accidents which have resulted in the need for a tetanus injection. I no longer need a tetanus jab as I am totally immune. At least they say I am.

AP - I've was told the same thing the last time I went to the doctors thinking I needed another Tetanus booster.

We both had a course of 3 almost 10 years ago. We were told that two jabs a month apart then another after 6 months protected us for 10 years. We enquired if our 10 years were up a few months ago but they aren't until later this year. The view at the surgery seemed to be that another booster would be required. I'm going for it. I don't fancy the alternative!

What confuses me is that they seem to have changed their minds over the years so often that it's got confusing
I've certainly not had a jab in the past 25 years.
No doubt the GP has a record of how many and when....might be worth checking up!!

I keep thinking I must get a jab, I probably havent had one since I was a kid so over 40 years ago, cant remember having one since.

Himself went to the doctor's yesterday to get his new prescription and they gave us an appointment for 10 days time - a 10 year booster. Looking at the cuts on my hands just now I'm up for it!

Nicos, one of the first things we did after we moved here was talked to our MT/GP about a tetanus jab. He just wrote the prescription, we got them at the pharmacy and did them ouselves. Ane here it's the 10 years booster rule for sure.

When I had my last booster 5 years ago I was told that I would not need anymore as I had 5 and it would be enough.
