I went to the garden centre today (it's that time of year). I just needed some pots to replace the broken ones in my propogator, seeds and potting compost. I had to pass the aquatic bit and they had a few ponds for sale so I bought a preformed one. OK I know how to install it but what then? What do I do with the insides? I got it to keep the frogs that are lurking in my compost heap on my allotment to stay interested in eating the slugs.

How interesting Janie, pics when done?? ....let it fill naturally with rainwater? Perhaps you could get hold of some naturally oxygenating pond plants so the frogs etc have somwhere to hide and lay their spawn?
Just guessing really, cos my only real experience of ponds is my OH's old Koi pond serviced by 3 bloody great filters! (Don't have it any more)Kirsty b xx

I filled mine with a mixture of rainwater from the water butts / IBC and from the nearby canal and then let the wildlife move in of it's own accord. OH tells me there's loads in there but I rarely spend any time looking as I'm too busy doing the rest of the plot
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

If its for the frogs make sure there is some way for them to get out of the pond i.e. a stone they can crawl onto then jump off. Otherwise pretty much let it do its own thing.
